the puppet

Geppetto brought his puppet out to play. The puppet squeaked from a lack of up keep, spiders casting a web through his fingers and moth balls leaving a hole in his dust filled shirt. The puppet master sat him up right only for the puppet to fall off balance, angering the puppet master who through him across the room and broke him into several huge pieces through his words and lack of common sense.

Today the puppet still sits in a pile as the dog takes a piece of his leg and gnaws on it instead of her rawhide bone. The puppet master sits silent, eventually covering the puppet with an old quilt so he can barely be seen or heard by others. Its the way the puppet master wants it to be. A price tag is placed upon him, ten pennies or less...

Remnants of Geppetto's once prized creation are scattered down the hallway near where the puppet had been stored. A broken shoe, half an ear and a deep crack in his chest where his heart once was, leaving the puppet hollow, chipped and splintered.

melancholy

Today was a somber day,
a day of reflection.

Today was Stephen's day,
his birthday
and he would have been 41...
I wept in silence as the skies opened up and wept too. I thought of all the crazy and sometimes insane adventures we took one another on and was filled with contentment, knowing I will see him again,
sooner than expected,
but again.
